The last few weeks I have shared meditations from Sandra. She regularly attends on line meditation practices and has a lot to teach any of us who want to really learn how to meditate. With everything going on in our lives today we need to make time for ourselves. The inner peace has helped me to understand that just writing or reading an article about meditation or spirituality is not enough. If you truly want to experience inner peace you need to add some kind of meditation to your daily life.
So what do we do with our weekly Spiritual Meditation articles. Do we just read it! Do we try to see how it can change our lives or our way of thinking. Do we contemplate the meaning of each article. With these thoughts in mind I decided to pass on some information about being Spiritual, how to Meditate and what the benefits are for you. Also how it can take you to a place of true Spirituality.
Spiritual, is our religious beliefs, our spirit, our soul as opposed to material or physical things. We can awaken our spiritual side by taking care of ourselves, examine our beliefs, and be intentional about what we believe.
Meditation – Meditation isn’t about becoming a different person, a new person, or even a better person. You’re not trying to turn off your thoughts or feelings. You’re learning to observe them without judgment. And eventually, you may start to better understand them as well.
The goal of meditation is to go beyond the mind and experience our essential nature—which is described as peace and happiness. But as anyone who has tried to meditate knows, the mind itself is the biggest obstacle standing between ourselves and this awareness.
Spiritual meditation is an experience that takes you to the depths of who you are. You, as your real self, stripped of all the perceptions you had about yourself until that point in your life. In the process, you experience joy and peace. A feeling of love and light warms up your being
You invariably react to every thought and end up being affected by it. Even while you sit to meditate, thoughts will bombard you. But, the challenge lies in not responding to them and allowing them to control you. Let the ideas seep in like they usually do, but control the urge to react to them. Let them waft away, enabling you to get back to your meditation.
Turn your attention to your body and your awareness and presence in the space. Become conscious of your surroundings. Observe how your body feels. Be attentive to your thoughts and breath. Relax completely and stay calm. Open your eyes slowly and sit in the same position for some time. Let the effects of meditation sink in. Feel it, and enjoy the lightness your body feels. Think about the entire process and how you went about it. Notice how you have become less agitated than before the meditation. Accept that your reaction to the process was natural.
